British Columbia PNP

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) was established to assist prospective immigrants who have the abilities and experience to help the province’s economy grow. For their application to be considered further, applicants must first qualify for one of the many different streams in BC.

Why British Columbia?

BC boasts an expansive array of cultural, environmental and intellectual opportunities. It is well-known for its cities that are easy to get around in by car or public transportation, such as Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna. The beauty of BC’s landscapes has earned the province the nickname “the Great Outdoors.”

Prospective immigrants can use one of the three following streams:

  • Skills Immigration (SI)
  • Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC)
  • Entrepreneur

In turn, Skills Immigration includes five categories, EEBC has four categories, and Entrepreneurs may apply to one of the three separate categories. In addition, the province runs a BCPNP Tech program, formerly known as Tech Pilot, aimed at 29 different occupations.

How to apply for BCPNP

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program accepts applications through SIRS – Skills Immigration Registration System. In addition, all streams of the EEBC are linked to the federal Express Entry system, which allows faster processing of the PR applications.

Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) andSkills Immigration (SI)

These two streams share four out of five immigration categories.

SI & EEBC – Skilled Worker Category

Individuals who have received an eligible job offer in a professional field are eligible for this category. Workers must be experienced in their occupation for several years.

SI & EEBC – Healthcare Professional Category

Individuals who have prior experience and have received offers for eligible jobs in the fields of medicine, nursing, psychiatric nursing, or allied health jobs may apply. One of eleven qualifying healthcare NOCs can participate in this category.

SI & EEBC – International Graduate Category

Individuals who have completed an eligible Canadian university or college in the previous three years can apply in this category. To be considered under this category, you must first obtain a job offer from a BC employer.

SI & EEBC – International Post-Graduate Category

Graduates with Master’s or Doctoral degrees from an eligible British Columbia institution in the natural, applied, or health sciences disciplines will be considered for this category. To apply under this category, you must have a job offer.

SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Worker Category

Workers in certain tourist/hospitality, food processing, or long-haul trucking jobs, as well as entry-level or semi-skilled workers who live and work in the Northeast Development Region of British Columbia, may be eligible for immigration through this category. This category cannot be processed under the EEBC.

BCPNP Tech

BC Tech draws are popular among employers in the province. They invite eligible qualified individuals to apply for a provincial nomination regularly. This program is for skilled workers with a job offer in one of 29 qualifying industries in British Columbia. The employment must also have at least 120 days remaining on it when you submit your application.

Entrepreneur Immigration – Base Category

This category is for senior executives or company owners who want to put money into a prospective business in British Columbia.
